CoinGecko Tutorial: The Complete Guide To Using CoinGecko
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz-LUDnYl9Y
Transcript:
Hey everyone, today we’re going to take a look at all the features of CoinGecko,  essentially a guide on how to CoinGecko.  Hey, it’s Girl Gone Crypto here with CoinGecko, and today we are going to take you through the  website, the coin pages, different ways to explore coins, how to use the portfolio tracker,  provide an insight to the candy rewards, and various learning resources that you can look  into to increase your crypto knowledge.
Well, before we answer all these questions,  first of all, if you’re new here, welcome.  If you’d like to stay updated on all things crypto,  make sure to click on that subscribe button,  turn on notifications,  and follow on all the social media platforms linked below.  All right, let’s jump in.  If you’re overwhelmed looking at all the numbers  and charts and cryptocurrencies when you get on the site,  don’t worry, we are gonna take you  through each and every feature.
So the homepage is the most popular page  where millions of monthly users visit to view the  latest price of the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap.  So if you’re wondering why the price here is different from other crypto exchanges,  it’s because CoinGecko tracks the price of different exchanges to provide a global average.
So crypto investors generally use market cap to determine valuation of a crypto coin.  It’s also a common practice to compare the market cap of two similar coins to determine the potential growth of a crypto coin.
It’s also a common practice to compare the market cap of two similar coins to determine the potential growth  of a smaller coin.  So you can use the compare tool to help you compare  market data for different coins.  So by default, the crypto price table is sorted  based on the descending order of market cap value.  Pro geckos love to sort between one hour, 24 hour,  and seven day price changes to observe  which of the top 100 coins experienced the largest gain  or loss recently.
Users may do the same for coins in different market cap ranges. The search bar could be your best  friend to identify the most trending coins now or simply scroll to the bottom  and see how the trending coins have been performing in the past week. Now let’s  talk about the coin pages where you can study about a crypto project or to  simply gain information about a coin.
Now this is the top part of the coin page  where you can find information such as the price and market data like market  cap, circulating supply, 24-hour trading volume,  and that’s all on the left.  Progeco sometimes compare the ratios listed above between two or more coins,  determine which coin is relatively under or overvalued.  The circulation or max supply ratio may allow us to get a quick idea on whether a coin will undergo high inflation later.
So if the value of a coin’s circulating supply is a tad bit too close to the maximum supply,  this shows that the coin may have limited emission and has exposure to sales pressure.  You may not be able to view certain information like total value locked or TVL because these  are only applicable to DeFi protocols like decentralized exchanges, DAX, yield farming,  and lending protocols.
So if you’re wondering why some coins don’t have market capitalization data, this is because  such information is left blank by default and will only be approved for display once  the research team has conducted certain due diligence.  So here are some key actions you can do on the site.  You can use the currency converter to convert to your local currency for your convenience.
Next, you can save price alerts for a coin to notify you with a web browser or mobile  app notifications.  Progeccos uses this to alert them for key metrics such as liquidation thresholds.  Alternatively, you can add a coin into your portfolio  by clicking the star button so that you can keep track  of all the coins in one place.
Now you may create multiple portfolios  for different purposes such as a general watch list,  long-term huddle investment, meme coins,  or ROI simulation with fake transactions.  Here’s some tabs that you find above the chart  where you find terms like historical data,  where you can view and export historical price data.
The term security refers to the security audit, review, bug bounties, and insurance coverage of a coin.  You may switch between different dates to view the price movements of a coin.  In this table, you’ll be able to find out which exchange allows you to trade a coin  and at what price point in which market pairs.
Progeco sometimes use this section to check whether a coin is listed on a major exchanges like Binance.  If a coin is not listed,  the coin may have high growth potential  to be adopted by more traders later.  At the bottom of the page,  you’ll have relevant updates, references, and guides  to further educate yourself on a coin  and to be up to date with any new developments.
Under the categories tab,  you can find the full list of coins  under certain hot categories like  metaverse, NFT, gamefi and more. You might also want to save your favorite categories with the  custom tab feature too. You can view the largest price gainers and losers in recent or up to one  year ago. Under the recently added tab you can find the latest coins listed on CoinGecko.
Maybe  you’ll spot a hidden low cap gem. You can also discover more coins under the discover page. So  if you’re interested to know which coins are currently trending in certain countries like the United States and the Philippines  You may get the answers on this page, too  So if you’re already using a crypto exchange be it centralized exchange or decentralized or considering using a new exchange  You can find out which coins are available for trading under the exchange tab  So now that we’ve looked at all the essential information
on the site, it’s time to convince you to sign up  for a free CoinGecko account.  Yes, free.  While anyone can access all the price and market data  on the website, here’s some benefits that geckos love  by signing up for a free account.  When you sign up for your account,  you’re entitled to candies and rewards  like eBooks, NFTs, discounts, and more.
By collecting 800 candies, you can get yourself  a free How to DeFi beginner eBook that’s worth $19.99 on Amazon.  Track your profit and loss or coin research with the Portfolio feature.  Other than using it to record your actual investments across centralized exchanges and DeFi,  you may also use the Portfolio as your watchlist.
That being said, you don’t have to put in real  money to start your crypto investment learning and research journey. Some users add virtual transactions to simulate potential  profit and loss on certain coins. Want to improve your crypto knowledge? Well enjoy  more freebies when you sign up for the daily newsletter and be part of an  amazing community with over a hundred thousand geckos.
So learn about  cryptocurrency with the guides on GoinGecko Buzz, streams and crypto guides  and articles covering all things crypto related or updated consistently for your viewing.  And if you want to stay up to date on the latest news, head on over to the CoinGecko  website.  You can also do this with the mobile app as well.
